Never Shop at Kirschman's
I will never shop at Kirschmans again as long as I live!!! Ok, let me start at the beginning, Tony and I purchased a stove and dishwasher from Kirschman's. They were both delivered to us exactly 2 weeks ago. The electronic component of my brand new stove didn't work at all. I could turn on the oven light and work all of the burners, but anything that was controlled by that electronic panel (like the oven for instance) did not work at all. I immediately called the Kirschman's store that I purchased the stove from to be told, "I am sorry ma'am, but that is a warranty issue." They gave me some phone numbers of 2 repair places that they said could help me. At this point I wasn't really happy, but I called the repair places anyway. One of the 2 places doesn't service Slidell, so they couldn't help me. The other place only has one guy that comes to Slidell on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They said that they could come out the next day (which was thursday, our stove was delivered on a wednesday). I asked the lady on the phone if they could just call me at work and give me 30 minutes notice so that I wouldn't have to miss an entire day of work. So Thursday rolls around and I don't hear from the repair place at all. Around 3 p.m. I decide to give them a call and see what is going on. I was told that since it was raining the repair guy was not going to be able to make it to my house, the next time he would be able to come out was tuesday. (This is completely rediculous because the stove is in my kitchen.) I come home on thursday to a message on my answering machine saying that the repair guy was trying to get in touch with me to come out to the house (the call came in at around 11 a.m.). He never called me at work to come and meet him. At this point Tony and I are both fuming!! We make a couple of phone calls to Kirschman's to tell them about the problems that we are having. The girl that answers the phone tells me that there is nothing that they can do for me since the store doesn't actually employ the repairmen. I told her that I wanted them to come and pick up my new broken stove and bring me a new one. I was told that they couldn't exchange it for the same thing, and if I returned the stove there would be a 25% restocking fee whether I exchanged or got a refund. We both tried to talk to a manager but they wouldn't put either of us through to the manager. So we decided to wait until tuesday and see what the repairman had to say. Since he failed to call me at work the first time I decided to stay home and wait this time for him. He showed up at 1 p.m. and was gone before 1:05 p.m. (they also called me at work this time, so I missed a day at work for nothing!!). They took the back off of my stove and told me that I needed a new circuit board. My dad does a little electrical work and he looked at it the day before and told me the same thing, but there is no way I would have believed this guy if I hadn't heard it from my dad first (after all he was there for about 3 minutes). He told me that they would order me a new one and call me when it came in. OK, now at this point I must have had smoke coming out of my ears. I immediately called Kirschman's again and insisted on speaking to the manager. Two hours later she called me back. I insisted on a new stove, so she called the district office and then called me back. She then told me, "We don't have any of that stove in stock right now, so the best that we can do is call the repairman and have him come and take the circuit board out of our floor model and install that in your stove and we will wait for the new one to come in." I was so frustrated but I figured that this was the best I was going to get so I regretfully accepted. The next day (Wednesday, 1 week after delivery), the repairman called and told me that he could get the circuit board out of the stove at Kirschman's on thursday and install it in my stove that day. I had been thinking about this though, and I decided that I would rather wait for the new circuit board to come in because how would I know if something happened to the on at the store and that might be why they are using that one as a floor model!! The repairman told me that he would be able to come out tuesday and install the new one if I wanted to wait for it. Now tuesday comes and goes without a phone call from the repairman. This morning (Wednesday, 2 weeks after delivery), I called the main office for the repair place, and was told that the part for my stove hadn't come in yet and she had no idea when it would be in, but it would probably be in this week. So frustrating!!!!!!!!!! I was beginning to think that this stove was just going to become a permanent useless decoration in my kitchen. (Thank goodness that we still had our old stove to use all of this time.) I arrived home from work today to find a message on the answering machine saying that the part to fix my stove came in today, and the repairman could come out tomorrow and install my new circuit board. Might I be able to cook on my 2 week old brand new stove tomorrow finally? I will have to keep you posted.
