Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving
Tony and I spent thanksgiving at his mom's house and my mom, stepdad and brother were there also. It was very nice, and there was tons of great food, especially the desserts (always my favorite). Then we drove to my uncle's house outside of Hammond. We got to hang out with my dad's side of the family and we drew names for christmas. Can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner and right now I am forcing myself to have some spirit. It is a struggle to decorate the house, luckily for me Tony wants to do some things, which motivates me to do some of the decorating too. We haven't gotten our tree yet, but I think it might be a 3 foot tree on top of a table this year!!!
Black Friday
I had to look up on the internet to see why they call it that. This is what I found:
The day after Thanksgiving is frequently referred to as "Black Friday". One of the major U.S. holiday shopping days, it is the day many U.S. consumers begin their annual Christmas shopping. The day is heavily promoted by retailers both in newspapers and with television commercials. The origin of the term "Black Friday" comes from the shift to profitability many retailers experience during the holiday season. Black Friday was historically when retailers went from being unprofitable, or "in the red," to being profitable, or "in the black".
My mom and I went shopping on friday in Slidell to get all of the sales. We went to a bunch of stores to get a ton of my christmas shopping out of the way. I got a good bit done but I am still at a complete loss as to what to get some people. My mom and I shopped from 5 am to 10:30am, only stopping briefly for breakfast. I came home took a nap, and then drug Tony with me to get the things that were on 2 day sales that could wait until the morning craziness was out of the way. Maybe I am crazy, but I just love fighting the crouds for the deals, that's when it starts to feel like christmas!!!!

Garth Brooks!!

Garth Brooks
Thursday of last week my friend Tegan ran into my office and told me that Garth Brooks was at Walmart in Waveland (the sister of another girl at work called and told her this). So I was pretty excited, but still I was thinking "yeah right why would he be here". So, feeling a little silly, I left work with Tegan in the middle of the day to drive down and see for our selves. We got there and there was a crowd of about 30-40 people hovering around. We were so excited, my hands were shaking, we parked the car right where it was an ran to get into the circle to see if it was really him. And there he was Garth Brooks himself. He was listening to peoples stories, and when we thanked him for doing this he said that it was the least that he could do. He was so down to earth and really nice!! Anyway, the top picture is me and Garth although you can't see him real well because of the sun, the second picture is Tegan and Garth, you can make him out in this one better. And for those of you who still don't really believe that it was him, click here for the link to the article in the Sun Herald about it. On our way back to work we were both on our cell phones making excited phone calls. It was awesome!!
Lately
I know it has been a while since I posted, but I have just been so busy lately. We put up a shed in our back yard a couple weekends ago. No progress on the fence or the tile in our bedroom, but at least something is getting done. We can't even get the fence guy to call us to schedule a time to look at it so that he can give us a quote. So frustrating. Maybe I will get that fence put up in time for another Hurricane to come and knock it over again!! Ok, so I am not wishing for another hurricane, just really frustrated. I am really having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. I have my Mary Kay that I have hardly touched, and I struggle to make myself go to the gym (luckily I have Tony to make me go!). My problem is that when I am home I just want to stay there. This storm has just really thrown me for a loop. I guess that I just need to jump in and force myself to start doing things again and maybe after I start I might find some motivation. Right now I am just looking forward to the long weekend for Thanksgiving and I am going to enjoy my turkey day and go and do plenty of shopping the next day!!!
